Knowledge base – energy storage & power guides
Practical guides on power tariffs, peak shaving, and battery storage – how your business lowers grid costs. Written by Miravolt energy experts.
What the guides cover
By January 1, 2027, all grid operators in Sweden must introduce power tariffs, following a decision by the Swedish Energy Markets Inspectorate (Ei). That means you no longer pay only for the kilowatt-hours you consume, but also for your highest power draw in kilowatts – in some tariff models, a single high-load measurement interval can set the fee for the entire month. Our guide to power tariffs 2027 explains why the rules are coming, how the power fee is calculated, and which operations are most affected.
The most effective protection is peak shaving – cutting your power peaks with a battery that charges when the load is low and feeds out energy when you would otherwise draw maximum power from the grid. Our peak shaving guide shows step by step how the technique works in practice, how to size the battery based on the power (kW) and duration (kWh) of your peaks, and how the whole process is automated with real-time control.
The example calculations in the guides are based on real-world conditions in agriculture, housing co-ops, and industry: a business that halves its power peak from 150 to 75 kW saves roughly 73,000 SEK per year at a power fee of 81 SEK per kW per month. When you are ready to go from theory to practice, explore our battery storage systems for all three segments – we handle the entire chain from consumption analysis and sizing to installation and operational optimization.
