Power tariffs, battery storage and backup power for farms. We size systems for the farm's operations – milking, drying, irrigation. Free consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Why do farms get high power tariffs?

Farms with irregular high-load periods – milking, grain drying, irrigation – are hit hard by power tariffs. A few short, intense peaks can set the hourly maximum for the entire month. It only takes the dryer and milking machine drawing full power simultaneously a few times per month to push the grid fee disproportionately high.

Can battery storage provide backup power during outages?

Yes. Beyond peak shaving, the battery contributes to robust primary production: in the event of a grid outage, the backup power function can keep critical systems running – milking, cooling and ventilation. This reduces production losses and protects livestock operations without the need for diesel generators.

What is robust primary production?

Robust primary production is an investment support programme from the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket) that strengthens farmers' resilience against disruptions. The support can cover up to 80% of the investment cost for approved measures, including battery storage for increased energy security. The background is that extreme weather, high energy prices and supply chain disruptions require operations that can withstand crises.

How is battery storage sized for a farm?

Sizing starts from the farm's actual consumption profile. Four factors drive it: how high a power peak to shave (kW), how long the battery must sustain it (kWh), the choice of battery chemistry (lithium-ion, LFP or sodium-ion), and the installation conditions. We always dimension the system for your consumption profile and provide a fixed quote without intermediaries.
